Pointed Pen Possibilities
with Rachel Yallop
Class Description
SALES HAVE NOW CLOSED
The pointed pen is often associated only with copperplate, but there is so much more that can be done with this tool. In this workshop we will explore those possibilities.
We will practice some different scripts including those which traditionally would be written with a broad-edged pen. We will also look at letters in a more abstract way, design our own letterforms, and look at how they can be written with the pointed pen. This tool gives us freedom to control the weighted parts of letters by making them more, or less bold, or having varying weights. This approach provides exciting possibilities for all sorts of different lettering styles. We will then explore how to use these letters in words and finished designs.
