Class Description

Sales for this class are now closed

When it comes to ornamental flourishing, perhaps you have already tried it and may be applying some to your calligraphy pieces. Or you would like to learn and haven’t taken a class yet.

This is the right workshop for those who want to improve their flourishing skills as well as for those who want to start learning.

The aim of this class is for the student to learn the fundamental rules of decorative flourishing in American Penmanship.

These foundations, applied with proper speed in the script, will give muscle memory to the student’s arm, making them able to translate it into the pictorial style of penmanship that enriches their pen for commission works and gives them the graphic tools to flourish with ease

Jesús will be guide you from scratch, putting a solid basis of general rules and give you the knowledge to develop this skill further through your practice.

Come, join us for an amazing journey in pointed pen flourishing and discover with Jesús how to do beautiful embellishments for your calligraphy.

About Jesús M. Partida

jesus-bio.jpg

Jesús M. is an editorial illustrator and calligrapher from Mexico City. His interest for calligraphy comes from the shared elements with drawing: the experience of putting ink to paper, with brush or with a nib. His first encounter with letters was beginning university with a typography class, after he got curious about learning of the way to make them with his own hands on paper. Then it began his fifteen years long, and mostly, self taught journey (with a lot of help from the IAMPETH resources). In later years he had the opportunity to learn from people like Peter Thornton and James Farrell, among others.
