Ornamental Penmanship
with Jesús M. Partida
Class Description
Sales for this class have closed
As the third class in our series with Jesús — following on from Duntonian Delicacy and Fundamentals of Flourishing — in this class you will learn several variations for capital letters in the ornamental penmanship system of writing and some ways to scale this script to be appealing in different sizes.
For the class, we will be applying the knowledge acquired in the previous workshops: the understanding of structures and lightness of touch of Duntonian as well as the speed and movement required to keep the structure of the flourishing and letterforms.
You don’t need to have taken the past two class to join us, but we’re pleased to offer the recordings should you like the chance to put it all together.
Come, join us to continue this amazing journey in delicate pointed penmanship and discover with Jesús how to do beautiful embellishments for your calligraphy.

The Teacher
Jesús is an editorial illustrator and calligrapher from Mexico City. His interest for calligraphy comes from the shared elements with drawing: the experience of putting ink to paper, with brush or with a nib. His first encounter with letters was beginning university with a typography class, after he got curious about learning of the way to make them with his own hands on paper. Then it began his fifteen years long, and mostly, self taught journey (with a lot of help from the IAMPETH resources). In later years he had the opportunity to learn from people like Peter Thornton and James Farrell, among others.
